Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the US. Ashford is an actor, singer and dancer. Her first Broadway performances, she starred her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford's next venture will be an exclusive Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is set to appear alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who created Hamilton directed the musical. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford was the main character in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford, who was brought up in Denver and now lives in Los Angeles and New York.
