April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born on July 4, 1995. In the seventh grade, she started taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm to write songs. The first song she wrote was called Different which she composed at 12 years of age. At the age of 14 April spent a lot of her day creating and playing with songs. In the following months, April started going across NY and LA with her Dad so that they could both compose songs. April started to include other subjects in Take My Hand for her friends who were dealing in the face of peer pressure, disability or suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at the well-known Clean Beauty brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle blogger who has a growing fan base. As a woman born with no left hand, she has a significant part to play in her. It's however not the entire tale. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on Instagram, but she does not make it the main focus of the post. The message? The message? We have many different aspects, that our physical and identity self aren't as they appear. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I don't want it to define my life. I do not want to only be known as a disability expert. However, it doesn't affect my everyday life. I still do all the things I normally would and have adapted to the limitations of my disability. The same is true for my personality, and it's something that needs to be addressed. Her journey to self-acceptance is one that will last a lifetime, but she is an inspiration for this purpose. Even so, Lockhart admits to going through periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance and wearing clothing which displayed her arms. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I believe that you'll ever get there," she said. It's a fact that I see with everyone with whatever the source of their anxiety. It's essential to have those around you who are aware of and understand the way you feel. They will be the ones to ask what you worry about?
