Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in the French city of Puy-de Domme on the 9th of August, 1976. She was the eldest of four children. The actress was encouraged by her parents, a dentist and teacher who were both instructors in her pursuit of her passion in the theatre. This was in contrast her earlier ambition to be a primatologist due to the fact that she loved monkeys. The early success of her career and the rapid increase in recognition led her to become a young actor. In 1998, following the completion of her studies, she was invited to join Jeunes Premiers which is a French TV talent-scouting programme sponsored by Canal+. She also received the award for Best Young Actress prize at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. This led her to pursue a career in acting professionally. Tautou studied at her school, the Institut Catholique de Paris, and attended the Catholic Church as an infant. But she's since moved away from her religious background. Tautou claims to be not an official Catholic. In addition to her acting career she also tried her hand at modeling. She is also the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and has been referred to as the Chanel Muse. Her photography is also a passion and she recently exhibited her work at the Arles festival, under the title Superficial. Photography of her is primarily focused on fame and celebrity and will focus on the journalists who scrutinised her in the wake of her rapid success alongside Amelie as well as self-portraits. Audrey Tautou rose to fame and stardom with her major role in Le Fabuleux by Amelie Poulain. Amelie has been a box office hit internationally and was recognized by numerous awards shows across the globe. It is currently one of the top-performing French language film to date in the US. The film's popularity led to Tautou's appearance in a wide range of films from British dramatics such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles and moving into Hollywood by directing Ron Howard of the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
